COFFEE WITH LOCAL FLAIR

What do you think of when you hear the words “coffee
shop?” Most people probably imagine a comfortable
setting, close friends and (of course) great food and drinks
— most likely, a place quite like Redlands coffee
shop Stell’s Coffee and Tea. No long lines or mundane
atmosphere here. Instead of large, chattering crowds, Stell’s
is filled with down-to-earth customers and employees who
take the time to get to know their patrons. It also comes
equipped with a variety of seating choices, so you’ll
be satisfied no matter what your coffee needs might be.
There are long bars for solitude, larger tables for groups
or studying and a comfortable outside patio for enjoying
the California sunshine. And with plenty of space, there’s
no standing around or waiting for other customers to leave
so you can rush to find yourself a seat.
Stell’s food and drinks are equally as inviting as
their atmosphere; they are stocked with a wide variety of
both hot and cold drinks. Hot drinks come in three sizes
and include coffees, teas, espressos, cappuccinos and lattes.
Cold drinks are available in two sizes and include smoothies,
iced teas and coffees, and IBM’s (for those of you
who aren’t up to par on coffee talk, that’s
an ice blended mocha). They also supply canned drinks such
as sodas and juices. Prices are very fair, with hot drinks
ranging from $0.50 to $3.75 and cold drinks ranging from
$2.90 to $4.
But Stell’s Coffee and Tea is more than just a haven
for coffee drinkers — you’ll find satisfy any
food cravings with great eats. They supply an assortment
of pastries and muffins for breakfast goers. From 11 a.m.
to 7 p.m. they serve delicious meat and veggie sandwiches,
as well as different salads. Sandwiches range from $6 to
$7 and salads range from $2 for a small to $6 for a large.
If you’re thinking that these prices are a little
steep for a sandwich, just wait until you see what they
serve you. Sandwiches are very generous in size, come hot
or cold and are equipped with just about any topping you
can imagine. The price also includes your choice of one
side dish; either pasta salad, hot soups, chips or a salad.
The fact that Stell’s Coffee and Tea is privately
owned gives it some advantages over larger chains. They
serve top-of-the-line coffees are roasted right in the store.
They also pack their coffee by hand, which gives it a fresher,
crisper taste. They take pride in serving higher quality
products and offer drinks that are more natural than artificial.
They also take the time to really educate their employees
about coffee and tea, who can teach, help and advise customers
with their every coffee need.
Stell’s owners have been in the local coffee industry
for five years, and they enjoy contributing to the community.
Local bands often give outdoor concerts for patrons, and
the décor is filled with artwork from local artists.
Stell’s is always welcoming and excited about new
talent. So if you’re in the mood for a great atmosphere,
great food and drinks and great friends, make your way over
to Stell’s Coffee and Tea. Also, keep your eye out
for another Stell’s, which will be opening on State
Street in the near future.
